Between the Spring flowers and Christmas decorations there is a period
when the house seems empty, missing something.
While putting away the holiday decorations does give the house
a lighter feeling with the kitchen counters bare,
there is a longing for something green and fresh...
in the quiet dead days of winter.
A longing that is filled with a fresh green ivy ball topiary...
IVY TOPIARY LOVE
❧❧❧
Topiaries have a way of providing just the right amount of needed greenery
with a flair that says, "I can stand alone, nothing else needed."
Of course, a beautiful pot in which to stand regally does add to the ivy.
Yes, ivy topiary love for a bare winter kitchen adds life to the house.
And gives promises for coming Spring
filled with trees, shrubs, grass, and flowers
budding with new life.

Judith, I'm a fan of topiaries too. I have some sweet heart topiaries from Trader Joe's left over from Valentine's, a couple of lemon cedar from Christmas, and two euginia double ball topiaries that I brought home from Round Top last fall. They seem to thrive on the sun porch.
ReplyDeleteI have had mixed luck with the ivy topiaries. I can keep them looking good for awhile, but then they begin to drop leaves or get bugs. I think our home must be too dark for their liking. Yours look so fresh and welcoming. They do say, "Spring."
Your pretty topiary has the perfect spot by your kitchen sink. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteI also like the topiary against the kitchen sink. My, you do have some nice china.

Love this post! Topiaries are so elegant and Ivy? Well if I can't kill it then I know it's a good plant. I am loving yours in their pretty pots!
ReplyDeleteI used to make lots of rosemary topiaries, but now my house is too dark for those. The ivy might work though! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Judith. I just love ivy topiaries but have the hardest time keeping them alive! Do you have tips? Mine usually get brown curly leaves and eventually get spider mites.
ReplyDeleteLove your topiary and it looks great by your sink. The perfect pop of green to liven up your space.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to get a topiary or make one myself for a long time. It really is a nice green touch for those winter days when we long for signs of spring. Love your topiary and it looks so pretty in the kitchen.
