Whimsical Summer Lavender Tablesetting

A whimsical summer table setting filled with lavender sprigs and smiling sheep wearing crowns of summer wildflowers reminds us of the magic summer brings. No better way to celebrate summer than to set a table that also brings a smile to our faces.

Summer is a magical time when rigid schedules disappear and lists of merrymaking fun take their places. August days signal the end of summer is coming for school vacation and rigid schedules loom on the horizon, but there are still many days left until summer ends with the official arrival of Fall on September 23.

Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home is hosting a blog hop to celebrate summer with over 20 bloggers. A link to each of the bloggers celebrating summer is at the end of the post. Kick up your heels, laugh at the August Perseid meteor showers, soak up the long summer days yet to come, and read each of the posts to see great ways to celebrate summer at your home.

The Painted Hinge is just before me on the blog hop and shows her dining room for late summer. Since there are still six weeks left in summer, you may find just the inspiration from her summer dining room to create a late summer dining room at your house.

Whimsical Summer Lavender Tablesetting has paper placemats with sheep with wildflower crowns
Smiling sheep make me smile. Add a whimsical crown of wildflowers, and I almost laugh out loud! For the merry, carefree days of summer, paper placemats of smiling sheep with wildflowers on their heads add joie de vivre (joy of living) to my summer table.

Whimsical Summer Faux Lavender complements paper placemats with sheep crowned with wildflowers
While the sheeps' crowns of wildflowers are not lavender, they are lavender-like in their style and color. After finding the whimsical placemats, lavender seemed the perfect companion for the summer tablesetting.

Lavender is also the perfect companion for my French Country inspired home. The height of summer in August is lavender harvest time in Provence France.

A white crock filled with faux lavender says country style and hand-carved cane back chairs say French style

A spray of lavender alongside my new favorite French Country White Scroll flatware is light and airy at each place setting.

Whimsical Summer Lavender Tablesetting coasters have lavender and bee designs
Coasters in a variety of lavender-with-bee designs protect the antique French Country parquet table from damage.

White dessert plates hold salad forks ready for a scrumptious summer dessert, like an easy lemon meringue pie in Our Southern Home's post on today's blog hop.

A little green fleur de lis and PARIS add French Country to the paper napkins with lavender stems.

Fresh white flatware and white dishes keep the summer table cool.

Whimsical Summer Lavender Tablesetting is kept magical with whimsical paper placemats
Summer lavender and a whimsical paper placemat keep summer days magical.

Summer lasts six more weeks, and we plan to enjoy every day (even if it is 100°+.) We are enjoying the wonder of long days of summer sunlight.

One of the most magical times of summer is the Perseid meteor showers each August (in the northern hemisphere.) The peak for this year's meteor show is August 12-13. We plan to ooh and ahh over every meteor we see.

We are keeping the whimsy and magic of summer.

  18. Judith, those sheep placemats are so pretty, whimsical and give a great focal point to each place setting. I love lavender too and yours looks so pretty. We have 3 pots in the backyard, but they are not looking too happy right now. Maybe too hot? I would love to use them in a tablescape, but they are going to have to improve. All the elements of your tablescape look wonderful together.

  20. Judith, sorry I'm late getting around to visit. Your table offers a fresh cooling look for our hot days. I'm in love with that flatware. I may have to add some to my stash. As for enjoying the remainder of summer, I could welcome an early fall. I'm over this horrible heat day upon day.
    Enjoy the meteor show.
