Bird Bath Blur

Birds
are free spirits
that entertain, delight, and mesmerize us.
Flying, gliding onto branches...
Swooping through the woods...
Warbling, calling to one another, and answering...
Flashing brillant, or subdued, plumage depending upon gender...

We look for ways to bring them into our lives.

Birdbaths in our gardens...

Little pools of water with iron birds on the side...

Perched over the water's edge...

Can it be?
Perched over the water's edge...
A grey little friend enticed by the promise of cool water...
A drink?

No, not a drink!
A bath!
Oh, how funny this little fellow looks...
Jumping around, looking side to side, dipping his wings...
What fun to see him...bathing...
Laughter cannot be contained...
Out loud, unbridled laughter...

Flapping, fluttering,..., then
   furiously
becoming a bathing blur...

Oh, little bird that
entertained, delighted, and mesmerized me,
making me laugh aloud,
.........
then holding back fearful of
scaring you away.

For him, just a routine bath,
On a warm day in May.
For me, a rare glimpse of joy,
Of a bathing blur today.

Bringing a little bird into our lives...

I love the bathing bird. A year ago, I raised an injured starling baby, she loved her bath in a bowl. It was so funny to watch her splashing the water all over the table until there was no water left in the dish! Well, those birdies love to bathe as much as we do! Birds are indeed wondrous and beauteous creatures, no wonder we want to see them everywhere.

You are a girl after my heart. I love birds too both indoors and out. Right now I'm constantly staring for a sight of the hummingbirds that are coming to our feeders and flowers. Your pictures are amazing.

Today I posted a home tour and I'd love for you to come visit. :)

Judith, today's post is breathtaking! I'm captivated by the birdbaths... oh, and is it OK to say I'm coveting? Your photos are truly wonderful. Why is a small pool of water such a delight to the senses? Water soothes the soul.

Stacey, I popped over to your home tour of Nancy's house and had a great time. So much so, I decided to stay as a follower.

Thank you for your kind comments about my photos. I must say I had a hard time taking photos of this little bathing blur.

Thanks, Dana, for coming by and leaving a very gracious comment. It is amazing how such a small amount of water can be so captivating! I'm always watching for birds now to come take a bath...

I love birds too. I was looking around my home the other day and realized I have a lot of bird themed things. I actually thought about doing a post about it. :) We have a couple of bird baths in the backyard and there's a cardinal who bathes there regularly. It's right outside our window and it drives my cat crazy because the cardinal chirps the whole time it's bathing. LOL! I love the birdcage in your tablescape and the dishes are beautiful!

Ah, cardinals....so beautiful... We have more than one pair that live in the woods surrounding our house, and these are the birds that really swoop through the trees, flying at break-neck speeds.

Bird decor is very in right now. I was amazed at all the dishes at World Market this month.

I can almost hear them singing! I adore bird baths. We've left one at each of the last two houses we've lived in. I keep looking at them here, but haven't found just the right one. Of course, with our sun, they don't keep water in them for more than an hour! LOL The birdies have to bathe in a hurry!

Lovely post, Judith!

With all the frenetic moving I'm doing I so enjoyed seeing your post! Just love watching birds and decorating my home with touches of nests, eggs, and iron birds from darling little shops that displayed them so beautifully! So thrilled you were able to capture the bird bathing... made me smile, too!

Judith, you were right when you said we had much in common - I have bird paraphernalia all through the house and lots of things in the garden too. I've enjoyed seeing your bird decor and of course the real little guy splashing away.
I'm following you on Blog Lovin now - think I like it as I have new posts come to my inbox. :-)

We have an old cement birdbath that brings us hours of delight with visitors. My son was here the other day and we were sitting watching the birds splashing around. He turned to me and said "wow Mom, I would never have thought that a bird bath would be so cool". Thank you, Mr. Police Detective, the epitome of cool says my birdbath is cool. :)
